Members' Galleries - get your images ready!
We are ready to receive images to create Members' galleries at long last. Members are welcome and positively encouraged to submit anything from one to twenty-four images to build their galleries. What goes in your gallery is entirely your choice. Click here for details.
21 September, 2008:
I have added the Members' forum. This gives all members a great communication tool and allows discussion all matters photographic and the camera club. I believe it has the potential to get the club really going and urge all members to join it now and start sharing and express ideas. Click here to get started.
Members' Galleries: In the next couple of weeks I will be inviting all YCC members to select digital images to display in their own web site gallery. I estimate that initially we could display a maximum 16 images per member arranged in 1 or 2 galleries, theme optional. If you want to start work on these now, then you should prepare them as you would for a digital competition (max. 1024 wide by x 768 pixels high). Of course you could use the images already prepared for digital projection if you wish. I will be using Adobe Photoshop Lightroom 2 to create the galleries. I have put a sample gallery to demonstrate its appearance. There will be options (which will be optional) to use titles and a paragraph about the image
Web site content: I'm really keen to avoid the YCC web site becoming my web site, so would really like members to think about articles for publication; maybe someone would like to produce a club newsletter or how about an article for a group activity they are leading? A good place to start discussing content would be the Members' Forum :-)
31 August 2008:
Recently we have purchased a professional Web hosting service for the club which will ensure a reliable service to all those who will use it. This is the first phase of the new site's development and contains all the essential documents, list of event, contacts etc. It is very much a work in progress for the moment, but I hope you will find it immediately useful.
Overall design
The idea is to keep the design consistent throughout the site by using a specific template which contains the menu design. The aim is to be quickly navigable and simple without the need to go through several page loads (especially a boon to those using dial-up).
Future development of the site
I aim to make the following additions:
Member pages: Each member will be invited to write something about themselves, their photographic aspirations, a short bio, a photo perhaps, favourite links, whatever they like within reason, of course.
