About Us

Yateley Camera Club is a friendly, easy going camera club that welcomes anybody, of any age, absolute beginners to professionals with an interest in all things photographic. Club evenings are held every Wednesday from September to June. In addition, We have a comprehensive programme full of competitions (Digital projection, Print and Slide), presentations and tutorials by a range of photographers and imaging experts. We also run practical evenings that are held once a month on a Monday.

Brief history

Yateley Camera Club came into being from evening classes organized by Hampshire County Council. The tutor, Francis Spooner, taught both Beginners Photography and Advanced Photography. A number of the students developed friendships and rejoined the evening classes each year. In 1974 Francis and David Watts (The Warden of the Centre) arranged an inaugural meeting of the students with financial help from the School. Yateley Camera Club was born.
Roland Portsmouth was elected our first Chairman and right from the start cultivated the friendly atmosphere that still exists today. Francis Spooner was elected President, a post still held today. A membership of 60-70 has been maintained for many years.
